Although the picture is really good, the sound is very tinny. I need to keep it in one spot because if I move it the picture gets digital (squares) and I lose the sound. I am only fairly happy with it. I was going to return it but decided against it when I finally got it working. If I were you I would look for a different brand. Plus the customer service is only on line and not very helpful....

It receives only 50% of the channels I get with my DTV converter box.When rescanning channels, 50% of the channels change from rescan to rescan, even with the external antenna in a fixed position. Lot of features I would expect are missing, and I expected better reception, as this unit only gets half the channels that my DTV convert box receives.Mis-features include:- The external antenna connector leaves exposed metal- Non-standard external antenna connector- No ability to manually add channels, rescan required for everything- LiON battery not user-replaceableI expect consumer products to last far longer than 3 years, which is an average LiON battery lifetime.The web site shows no options for battery replacement....

Here in New Orleans, we have plenty of stations that can be picked up easily with the external antenna. If you use the external antenna, it might help if you have it on a metal base of some sort. It will help strengthen the signal. In addition, something that I thought was very nice is the fact that it uses a usb connector (not micro), to charge the unit. This can help a lot in emergency, because I have a couple of small USB battery units to help charge a cellphone, etc. I use the Tekkeon usb unit. So if you are running on emergency power, having a USB battery unit can help your portable TV run much longer on battery power.The sound is not great. You can hear and understand what is being said, but the quality is below average. An ipod headphone would help if you really need a better sound.This portable unit is not meant to used while walking around, or to be used in car when moving. It needs to be still so it can pick up the digital signal.If you live in an area where you need an outside antenna to pick up digital TV, then this unit will not be helpful for you. If you want to use a portable digital TV in that type of area, make sure you get a unit that will allow you to easily hook up your outside antenna to the portable TV rf connector....
