Just if you are use to the regular AV cable, this is a step up; and the picture is reeeeealy much more crisp. If you still have your old TV and VCR (do people still have those ;) )then you don't need it. But if you just got a new DVD player and an LCD or Plazma TV, then this is the cheapest cable you can get to the some of the potential of your equipment. Another cable would be HDMI, but some TVs or DVDs don't have it....
