You must follow the instructions EXACTLY and then go over them several times to make sure you haven't missed anything. Living in the tornado zone of Florida this radio will be of vital use. It is nice not to have to listen to unwanted weather broadcasts not pertinent to our area. Other radios sound the alarm for rainstorms etc. in several counties we are not interested in. Good product!...
This review is from: Honeywell PCR507W NOAA Weather Alert/All Hazard S.A.M.E FM Radio with Atomic Projection ClockMy wife and I like the projection feature - (it didn't work when the radio was running on the AC adapter without batteries installed).I like the detailed enable/disable by message type and county feature.The weather radio and alerts are so loud they make you want to smash the radio to get it to stop immediately. All you can think about is how do I turn it off NOW! It will not be comfortable to listen to the details of the alert.It lacks an "alarm off" push button. The alarm must be turned off totally by sliding a switch hidden on the back. This is do-able, but I really wanted a clock radio with S.A.M.E., not a weather alert radio with a poorly designed alarm clock function.The time is not very readable during the day. I don't like the fact that I have to have a whip antenna extended in my bedroom.It seems to be the best radio for the price I paid (half the MSRP) but I am guessing I will still buy a clock radio to put next to it.ps. Don't forget to disable the test alert unless you need a weekly heart attack between 10 and noon on Wednesdays....

First there is no way to turn the "weather" side of the radio down to normal sound levels. About a 2 months ago, it starting saying check operation, i followed the instruction from there website ,and it still doesnt work properly....
