This review is from: Elite Screens VMAX/Manual wall and ceiling hanging L-bracketsI recently purchased an Elite screen and needed wall brackets. With most screens you can use other manufacture brackets, most have ears on the end for standard hooks. I shopped around and the ones from Da-lite were really cheap looking, mostly made of plastic. I found some generics but they also looked quite bad. So I cam back to these brackets, other reviewers had mentioned the solid steel design but very poor instructions. They weren't kidding, these brackets feel like they came from the 1950s, when anything that needed to be strong was made of steel. Thats the good news, the bad news is the instructions are horrible, its 2010 people, can it really be this hard to make something more then a brochure for instructions? The second bad news is that mine didnt come with drywall anchors but I wouldnt have used them anyway and would have gotten my own anchors if I needed them. In my case, I used studs three large wood screws with a washer. One last piece, the hook assembly if done incorrectly has the potential to fall through the track carved into the bracket, resulting in a very dead screen. So I suggest you get a washer or nut to go with the assembly from home depot that will prevent it from going through. Bottome Line - I would get these again, despite knowing the difficulties. They allowed me to get the perfect throw distance, would survive a hit from a 2000lb bomb, and look really good. Some assembly required though....

The mounts work great and as intended. The problem i have is with the service and manual. The manual instructions are horrible and the installation steps a very poor. I called elite systems tech support and they could not tell me what drill bit to use or what distance from ceiling was adaquate for the the install. The said to refer to a profesional installer and then told me to measure the hole on the mounts (which are keyhole shape) to determine the size. In case you are installing the mounts its 3/8" bit will work with a little play on the hole and a hammer for the "d" bolt....
