This review is from: Optoma Neo-i / DV20 Portable iPod/iPhone Docking Station Video Projector with Built-In SpeakersThe NEOi is a great lightweight projector to entertain the kids or to share pictures and videos. I'm one of the few without an iPod or iPhone so I'm probably not the target market for this projector but I have found many uses for it.When necessary to move the kids to another room we connect a DVD player to the HDMI input and let them project a movie on the basement wall. This keeps the children entertained for hours. We have also used the NEOi to project from a camcorder and digital camera to share family photos and videos. The sound system is good but lacks powerful bass and the image is bright enough to display videos and photos on a pull down shade in the kitchen (about a 30" diagonal image). You will need to turn down the lights to enjoy saturated colors and details. In the basement, in a very dark setting the image size can be rather large (60") with great color and detail. The Good - portable, easy connection with HDMI, VGA sources and iPods/iPhones. No bulb to burn out since this is an LED projector. Good image quality in a dark room. Much less expensive than a standard projector. The not so good - this is not a standard projector so it is not meant for using in a room with high ambient light. This product is a winner for projecting videos, photos and other information from portable electronics and DVD players....

This review is from: Optoma Neo-i / DV20 Portable iPod/iPhone Docking Station Video Projector with Built-In SpeakersI hooked up my 13" MacBook Pro laptop (using the Kanex iAdapt MDPHDMIV2 HDMI adapter) and it works great for enlarging my sketches and concepts for painting on canvas, playing DVD's and anything I can play on my laptop. Also use it for camping (rented camp sites with power). Just strung up a large white sheet between 2 trees and the picture was great - maybe close to 90" diagonal later in the evening after sunset! For the price the image is very good; maybe a little soft (lens quality maybe?). I wish it had a headphone jack for audio out in case I want to add bigger sound to the already impressive built in sound. I love the portability! Another wish is that I could play more from my 3GS iPhone through the dock (This is a phone issue, not the projector's fault). It won't allow playthrough of Netflix, Hulu, etc. but will play slide shows from the photo library (but not when you pause - it goes blank). It also will allow YouTube to play through. I don't want to Jailbreak my phone to have the capability to play everything from it though. I'm hoping the iPhone 5 will be more flexible whenever it comes out. The touch controls are not as responsive as I'd like. I have bigger fingers, so when I want to turn down the volume, it turns it up instead unless I aim better. By the way, it is plenty loud for most situations! The remote actually works better than what I've read in other posts. The range was adequate.Overall, I'm loving it and it has its place. It's been bright enough to work in most applications, but if I were setting up a real home theater, I would need to step it up a bit. Considering the aforementioned expectations I highly recommend this product!!!...

This review is from: Optoma Neo-i / DV20 Portable iPod/iPhone Docking Station Video Projector with Built-In SpeakersThis is the perfect low price projector with 1080i resolution. I plug in my HDMI straight from the back of my UVERSE cable box and it instantly projects the image with better sound than I was expecting(it goes louder than you would need). I had a party out on my patio and shot a very clean 100" image off the back of my garage(no screen, just white house siding). The iPod hookup is even easier to use and projects a great image as well as the PS3 and XBOX. If you're looking for a portable projector with sound and you don't want to break the bank this is for you. I'm very relieved that it worked out so well because I was prepared to spend upwards of a thousand dollars. I can't imagine(for me at least) that the quality would improve that greatly to warrant spending six hundred more dollars. Two Thumbs Up!!!!...
