This review is from: PTC DigiView HDMI 1.3 4-Port Switch w/Remote & 6ft Gold CableSome people may think this item is defective because of the way it works. Let me explain. To be able to switch from port 1 thru 4, every port has to sence a signal going to it. Example. I have my PC, PS3, & cable tv box plugged into ports 1,2,3.If my PC is off, port#1 will not sence a signal,& it cant be selected until I boot my PC. My PS3 is on port#2 & will also not be senced allowing me to switch to it if the PS3 is off. My cable TV box has an always active HDMI port even though the box is off, Port#3 can always be selected. This confuses alot of people,& they think the switch is defective. It's not. If I turn on my PC & PS3, all ports are now sencing a signal going to them, allowing you to switch to any port 1,2, 0r 3. I'm very happy with this item. Use the cable that comes with it. Do not buy cheep cables for something else otherwise you will see pixel specs & or noise lines on your screen, & you will think something is wrong. Yes, cheep cables have cheep insulation & will create signal noise lines on your screen. It happend to me cuz I used a cheep cable at first to hook up my PC with HDMI out on my graphics card. As soon as I used the cable that cable that came with it, I could see the difference in the thickness in the cable insulation. Noise lines on my monitor are gone....

This review is from: PTC DigiView HDMI 1.3 4-Port Switch w/Remote & 6ft Gold CableAfter reading reviews on different products that would allow me to hook up several pieces of electronics into one and use the HDMI aspect I decided to go with this product. It was everything it was said to be and more. It was so easy to hook up and within minutes I had my cable box, HDTV and my Roku all connected and working! I love the size and the price was unbeatable! I am in my 60's and while not especially challenged by technology, this couldn't have been eaiser to set up. I love watching my Netflix and Amazon movies on my TV! Soon I will have my PC connected as well....

This review is from: PTC DigiView HDMI 1.3 4-Port Switch w/Remote & 6ft Gold CableI have a very simple set-up at the house. I have (1) LCD tv with (1) HDMI input on the back. I also have a dvd player and a cable box, both with HDMI outputs. Setting up this device is super easy. Simply run one HDMI cable from the output on the back of the switch to the tv, and then run an HDMI cable from both the dvd player and the cable box into the inputs on the back of the switch.I had the cable box set on port 1, and the dvd player on port 2 since we use it less. I powered the switch on and the cable picture came onto the tv screen and looks fine. Here's where I came to the first issue. When I used the switch remote and pressed "2" to switch to the dvd player, it powered down my television. So I cannot use the remote, I have to manually press "2" on the switch itself. It does switch to port 2 (the red LED on the switch lights up), and the dvd screensaver comes onto the tv temporarily. But when I put a dvd into the player, the signal turns on and off alternately. I saw the dvd menu, then the tv went to an all blue screen (my tv's default screen when there is no input), then a solid pink screen, then back to dvd screensaver. Even with the switch manually set on "2" and a dvd playing, it will not display on the tv.Using the remote to switch back to the cable box again powered my tv down. I can manually switch it over, and again the cable works fine. But so does a direct connection. For whatever reason, this device will not switch between my cable box and my dvd player, and when I manually switch it the dvd will not display on the tv screen. If it will work for you it seems to be decently built piece of equipment. As for me I will be returning this to Amazon and searching for another solution....
